Prof. Richard Ascough (Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada) pitää vierailuluennon tämän viikon perjantaina 1.3. klo 14-16 aiheenaan Synagogues and (Other) Associations in the Roman Empire. Paikka: Päärakennus F3004.
Prof. Ascough toimii vastaväittäjänä Jarkko Vikmanin lauantaina 2.3. tarkastettavassa väitöskirjassa The Cultural Evolution of Cultic Expertise in Ephesus (PIII, klo 10). Vierailuluennon teema liittyy väitöskirjan aihepiiriin mutta on samalla laajemminkin merkittävä esimerkiksi varhaisten kristillisten seurakuntien synnystä ja organisoitumisesta käydyn keskustelun kannalta. On Saturday (March 2), Prof. Ascough will act as an opponent in the public examination of Jarkko Vikman’s doctoral dissertation: The Cultural Evolution of Cultic Expertise in Ephesus (PIII, 10 AM). The theme of the guest lecure is linked to the topic of Vikman’s dissertation but has also larger significance, for instance in the discussion concerning the birth and oraganization of early Christian congregations.
